Unwanted 3D text shadow

I made this 3d text but when I went to 3D--> Split extrusion and then tried to move the letters, I got a weird drag (see the color behind the S). I also got this a few times when i tried to change the shadow color.

Any ideas? thanks!

    This looks like a geometry artifact. Since PS doesn't have any modeling operations to remove such stuff, your only chance would be to start from scratch. typicalyl such stuff happens when the source path has too many anchor points, resulting in self-intersecting loops and small kinks that can cause later on artifacts. Hence meticulously cleaning up and optimizing such paths would be advised.
