Unwanted, sudden edges when drawing with both mouse and pen

I have been having the issue of random edges appearing in my brush strokes as shown in the provided image.
Here are some things I've tried to fix the problem (not specifically in the named order):
1. Use both mouse and pen to see if it was my pen/tablet
2. Reinstall photoshop entirely
3. Reset all preferences and brushes
4. Restart the computer

5.  Restart my tablet's driver

I would greatly appreciate any help on this
