I'm using CS5 and simply want to upgrade to the latest version and for some reason all I can find online is allllll about CLOUD and RENT me for 19.99/month.  I don't want to rent anything or buy Cloud.... just want the cost to upgrade to the latest version for my computer.  Someone who can speak normal English please help.

There are no more perpetual licenses. The Creative Suite is dead, the latest one was CS6 back in 2012. Adobe finally stopped selling that two years ago (and BTW, anything CS6 you might find on sale today is very likely pirated).

Adobe switched to the subscription model in 2013 and that's the only way to get it now. For the first year CS customers were offered a reduced price, but that window closed a long time ago.

The photography plan, Photoshop + Lightroom, will cost you $10 a month, upgrades included as they come. IOW it will take you about 12 to 18 years to reach the break-even point.

Thanks for the honest answer.... it's greed.   I appreciate it and will just stay with CS5.  I'm sure there are, or will be, other software producers who will take advantage of the situation and step in with their products.   Again.... your honest answer is refreshing and all I wanted to hear.   Michael in Orlando

Thank you so much for asking this question!  I, too, am still using CS5.  My company bought it for me, but then went out of business in 2013 so I've been using this same version and was looking into upgrading.  Its really too bad the perpetual licenses are a thing of the past. ~ Jenni
