Use eyedropper to update gradient swatch?

Hi! I am watching a tutorial, and I see the instructor repeatedly using the eyedropped tool (by pressing "i') to upgrade the color swatch in the gradient tool. When I press "i" and use the eyedropper to select a new color, the color swatch updates on the left margin, but the gradient color stays the same. How can I get the eyedropper tool to change the gradient color? For reference, I am using the gradient in foreground to transparent mode, and I also have "sample all layers" checked. I'm quite sure I am missing something simple, but I can't figure this out!

Hi all! Here with an update. The new photoshop version did not fix the issue, but I figured out what was causing it. If you're encountering this, you need to be in classic gradient mode with "classic" selected as a subcategory (vs perpetual, etc). That allows the eydropper tool to apply directly to the gradient. Of course, I have different questions to ask now, but this one is solved!

There have been issues with the Gradient  in recent releases, but most have been addressed (at least for me) in the latest version. If you haven't already, download v25.4.0 from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Updating now! Thank you. Let's hope this fixes it. If not, I'll upload a video. 🙂

Without seeing the video not really sure. However, placing the mouse over the gradient activates the eyedropper tool as I recall.
