use link as layer mask

Is there a way to keep this asset linked and use it ask a mask? currently I am using the magic wand on the mask asset and manually updating the clipping mask each time.

Is there a reason that you aren't selecting the layer mask and editing it directly?

Are you inquiring about how to link a layer to a layer mask so that the layer mask updates automatically when the content of the layer changes? Unfortunately, that is not possible. This feature is only available with cloned and linked smart objects. Even if you have linked or cloned a smart object, there is no way to connect it to a layer mask.

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible to illustrate what you are actually trying to achieve? 

What »Clipping Mask« are you talking about? Your screenshots shows no Clipping Mask, but rather a Layer Mask.
