I'm trying to extend a background of an image and after watching some tutorial videos, using the content aware tool works perfectly. However, the tutorials used cc 2018, and I can't do the same thing on CC 2019 anymore. When I click on content aware scale on the image and I try to transform (just like on the tutorials), the image gets distorted.

Here's one of the tutorials I watched:How to Stretch Images using Content Aware Scale - YouTube

The original picture after I expanded the size using the crop tool.

Choosing the Content Aware Scale

Extending the green background by pulling the image form the top.

I followed the steps on the video above and according to the video, the grey background should extend and the image wouldn't distort.

Hope this explains what I attempted to do. Thanks!

Content aware scale will not extend the canvas sides. you can either extend the canvas before you use the feature or use Reveal All after you use the feature.

Extend before:

Reveal all, after transforming:

I expanded the canvas using the crop tool. I was trying to make the image longer to have more grey background that will fill the canvas at the top.

Did you make a mask protecting the area you don't want to stretch? Also you have now hold the shift key to transform in only one direction.
