Using Touchscreen Laptop or Tablet ?

I have recently purchased a new Winows 10 Laptop which also converts into a huge Touchscreen Tablet.

 

It does have supprt to use a Digital Pen from what I can see.

 

But What I'd like to know is. Which is  the best option to go for? Do I stick with just the laptop and just purchase a pen for that or do I buy a seperate USB Tablet with pen for doing the detailed work I'd like to carry out with PS etc ? I'm hoping it can be done with just the Laptop as much easier to carry around while working on something if the need arises or to sit comfy on the sofa etc during a processing session. LOL.

Well, I'm like you: not on a big budget and like to sit on the couch or bed to work. I've been trying for years to get Adobe to let the user change the location of the pen cursor info, much like the transform info, but they haven't done it yet.

Frankly that will be a decision that you will have to make, depending on the work you're doing and the precision you want. I work with just a laptop and it's touchpad. I used to have a touch screen with a pen, and I loved it, but it died. The pen with the touch screen is nice, but I was having major issues with drawing paths, as the stylus blocked the view of the cursor indicator, making closing paths and moving anchors and handles difficult. For that, I had to break out my Wacom tablet. Currently, just using the touchpad works well for me, as I don't do a lot of brush work.

I'm leading more to the buying pen for the touchscreen option. The thought of having a 14" touchscreen is quite pleasing I think. I'm not on a huge budget as I'm only starting out taking it more seriously than I have over the years. I've never really done any real editing. I had a quick gander online and found some USB tablets for around £40 and that's around the Same price as a pen for my touchscreen. Don't know how good they are though but might suffice for what I need it to do. Only one way to find out I suppose is to buy one and Try it. And I get where your coming from with not seeing properly. I own a Galaxy Note 10 and the pen gets in the way sometimes on this but still it's better than my fat finger.. Haha.
