I don't think so. It will always export as PSD.

If you have a great numbers of files, you could use the file processor to convert the files afterward.

I understand your frustration.

In order to to ask Adobe for a new process you could repost with the "bug" or "idea" option instead, so the Adobe employees could be aware of your issue.

Because that's how it was originally designed and was never changed.

The only alternative that I have seen is a complex, old script that saved directly to JPEG, which I don't believe works with modern versions of Photoshop.

As suggested by @didiermazier creating a new topic with an idea label is the best option. I'll add my vote!

True, it hasn't changed, that doesn't mean it can't be changed...

Adobe may have overlooked this while taking steps to facilitate modern and business life.

Agreed, nobody has stated that it can't be changed or shouldn't be changed.

I answered your other post. You are creating layered files which cannot be saved as JPEG.
