Video players are lagging when zooming in Photoshop

Hello, all video sources(video players, youtube, twitch) are lagging when I am zooming in Photoshop.

This was not the issue on my old PC.

Now I have RTX 2080Ti.

Here is an example https://i.gyazo.com/5989adf0d940562437aab00a2bfebe81.mp4

even if I run FurMark(gpu stress test) Photoshop would drop GPU load to 50% in FurMark when zooming.

video driver 431.36 . I tried with and without video codecs. I reinstalled windows completely. Didn't help. I tried different Graphics Processor Settings in Photoshop Preferences, did not help.

Does anyone have an idea of what is going on?

Thanks

My first thought was that Scrubby Zoom uses the GPU and I assume your video playback is also using the GPU so both are competing for the same resource.

That said I could not replicate the issue here on a GTX1080 and driver 430.86. No effect on video playback whether on the same monitor or on 2nd or 3rd monitors. I looked at the resource monitor in task manager with two videos running each on a separate monitor (monitors 2 & 3) and then used scrubby zoom in Photoshop on monitor 1.

The peak is shown below but there was still no impact on video playback

Hello, thank you, you actually helped me to give an idea how to check what is going on.

So here is a screenshot with GPU performance where 1. Just video playback. 2. just zooming in photoshop 3. zooming+video !

Ok, disabling hardware acceleration for video sources helped with lag.

But is 70% GPU load when zooming is normal?

Hi

The peak is less than that here but that may be content or screen size dependent.

What happens when you zoom using the shortcut keys Ctrl +  or Ctrl -  ?

Hello Dave. Ctrl +/- peaking 40%. Wacom wheel zoom 20%

I am on WQHD monitor. On my 4k laptop zooming takes about 20-30%, but simultaneously on Intel GPU and Nvidia card.

Thanks
