viewing all files with the same extension in a folder while saving with Photoshop

Hello, Good People-

I am asking this question because I can find no answers with research. It is a difficult question to make clearly with a simple sentence: how can I see all the files in a folder using the same extension (ex .ico) when I save to it using Photoshop (or any other app for that matter?) This is important for many reasons but in particular for me at this time I'd like to replace certain files with new ones and would like to use the same names.

I hope my question is clear enough and that someone would be kind enough to answer.

Thank you ahead of time.

Great news! I had a faulty plugin! I changed it out just to make sure and
now it works fine. Thank you all for your help and maybe now there is just
that little bit of info for the next hapless user who may experience the
same problem. Take care and stay safe.

I might be misunderstanding your question, but if I use Save As and choose a file type, PSD or jpeg or......etc, I already see all the files in the target folder with that same file type.

Thank you for your assistance. That's just it- they other files do not show
up when I save as either "Save As" or "Save A Copy" (which is how one must
save an .ico fine.)

@Deleted User

Are you using a 3rd party plug-in for ICO format?

If so, please provide a link to the plug-in.

In the File Explorer Folder Options do you have Hide extentions for known file types checked?

Thank you for your reply. Yes, file extensions are seen via the View tab.
The problem is that no files show up in the folder of any kind when I save
from Photoshop. As you know, when saving a particular extension to a folder
with other files with that same extension they should be visible. When I
recently reinstalled Windows 10 this capability seems to have disappeared.
I can only imagine that it is some preference that should be turned on but
for the life of me can not find it.
Does this make more sense?

It's not clear what you are asking but it might be this? You can see the .ico files in Windows File Explorer and can't see them from Photoshop. If that is your issue, it's because Photoshop only displays formats it supports and it does not support .ico files.

Here is a list of supported formats:

You've seen three very different interpretations of your issue, so please clarify. Screen shots will help.
