Question

wacom pen very sensitive in photoshop

I'm using a wacom tablet with the latest version of photoshop which I installed about a month ago.

Sometimes it works fine (when I've just opened the application) but after a while it becomes hyper sensitive - just almost impossible to use in photoshop - particularly with the magnifying glass and the selection tool. It's hard to explain but it's hyper / everything gets selected / as the pen passes over something, it draws a shape / zooms out. It doesn't happen in other applications - like Lightroom and it didn't happen with the old version of photshop, so I'm pretty sure it's not the pen.

It's bringing on an RSI in my hand. I can't use a mouse because of RSI.

Any ideas?

me too! I use my pen for everything, I hardly ever select a mouse as i'm flicking between designing and various software all the time. There's a lag which means when you're selecting to drag and drop or especially on text, it's double clicking so files open instead of moving, text selects a whole line or more and you can't get the cursor to stay where you want, it's like you have a sticky pen, it's all over the place and extremely annoying. I've changed pen settings numerous times and it's no use, am at the end of my rope, it's so frustrating!

By the way, it's not just a photoshop issue for me

Hi Alek.

Photoshop 26.2.  I’m convinced my earlier and, to some extent, continuing problems with Wacom tablets are my ineptitude.   I’m new to Wacom tablets and had no idea they required such a period of adjustment.

“Throw away your mouse,” they said.  “Put your mouse in the desk drawer.”  Not so easy, is it?

I’m convinced such brash statements have led to great frustration for many,  and more tablets in desk drawers than mice.

Thanks for the follow-up.  I’m continuing my Wacom education.  One day I may be adept at many tablet functions, but I’m keeping my mouse close at hand.

Gerry.

Hey @GerryS709!

No worries, I totally get it. As a fellow Wacom tablet user, I know there's a bit of a learning curve 😅. Just a heads-up, you should be able to tweak the pen sensitivity in the Wacom Center app—that might help!

If you need anything else, feel free to reach out here or start a new thread. Thanks!

Alek

@bell66411662 have you tried adjusting the Wacom settings in the driver?

also - I would say that most times when I open photoshop it works fine for a while (using the wacom tablet) and then after a while, I run into these problems and it starts being very hyper. Maybe it's a memory / CPU problem with photoshop?
