I do things like that a lot in my day job.  If you have access to Illustrator,  I'd totally recreate the logo in Illustrator,  its not a complicated logo, then I would save it as a EPS and then place it in the Photoshop file.  At least with it made in Illustrator,  you'd have more control over the logo,  you can easily change the color of the logo.  Like if you wanted the logo to be white instead of black, you can easily do that.

Have you tried simply selecting the logo layer and inverting it (Ctrl+I). Then change blending mode to screen.

Hey,  good idea Dave.  Even if it is a raster layer, then setting it to Lighten would knock out the black, and the white text and diamond would show much better against the dark blue.  BTW the OP has uploaded at 3500 pixels on the long side.  Not enough to see the blurred content of the diamond, but the rest is fully discernible.

What file format is the logo?

Do you have it as a layered Photoshop document for instance?

If not, then for  such an important graphic,  you  could  maybe look at recreating as a  vector object with transparent background.

If you  are  not sure how  to do that, paste just the logo here in as high a resolution as you can, and I am sure you'll get some help (as in someone will make it for you.)

Are you talking about the logo int the lower left corner? If so, do you want the logo to be black or white? If white, it will look better on that background. But black is doable as well. Both are really easy.

First, how you can make that work with the black logo. (this is a total mock-up. but you will get the idea.

    • At first, you have the black logo over white, with a Normal blending mode.

    • Just change the blending mode to Multiply, and it will remove the white area.

    • If you would like it to stand out more as a white logo over that dark background, invert the image with CMD+i (Cntrl+i on PC), or you can use the dropdown menu and do Image>Adjustments>Invert.

    • Then change the blending mode to Screen.

I agree with Trevor, this is a work for Illustrator!
