Watercolour Artist freezes, can't complete action set

I've been running Watercolour Artist since 2020 and it worked well with the action set completing in a few mins. 

When on MacOs Big Sur it started freezing and showing scratch disk full. This was resolved with external drive and big storage clean up.

With extra storage came update to Monterey 12.7 and upon startup Photoshop prompts to upgrade to Mac oS 13 or above (which isn't possible on the machine I am now as Monterey is as high as it goes). 

With the upgrade Watercolour runs faster, yet still freezes on some actions (Select and Mask mostly and unless I stop the set and skip some actions render won't complete). It takes Watercolour artist over 5 mins to run through most actions before it gets stuck, which is quite some time...

Please advise.

    @Lan32382824tqlm there is a lot to dissect here - all of it is not meeting minimum system requirements.

    1. Not enough RAM

    Built-in memory: 4096 MB
    Free memory: 792 MB
    Memory available to Photoshop: 1970 MB

    Minimum RAM is 8 GB (8,192 MB)

    2. Underpowered GPU

    GPU Memory is at the minimum of 1.5 GB (meaning anything else in your Mac that would use GPU would make this less than minimum available)

    Intel Iris 6100 clocks in at 557 ops/sec.

    Recommended Minimum is 2,000 ops/sec.

    3. Low HD/Scratch disk space

    Formatted for adobe, 112.8G, 35.8G free
    Macintosh HD, 112.8G, 35.8G free

    Minimum to simply run Photoshop is 20 GB.

    Recommended is 100 GB free space.

     

    In short, your Retina Mac was built with bare minimum specs at the time - 4 GB RAM, low-end GPU and only 100 GB HD and is lacking the resources to effectively run current Photoshop. 

     

    Running the Watercolor Artist actions is most likely using up your resources and leaving you with no HD, RAM or GPU available. You need to update your Retina Mac or downgrade your PS install. However with only 4 GB available RAM - I'm surprised the software even launches without issue.

    Please provide more meaningful information, so far you don’t seem to have mentioned the Photoshop version for example or elaborated on the image properties (pixel dimensions, bit depth, …). 

    At which exact step/s in the Action does the freezing occur?

    @Lan32382824tqlm there is a lot to dissect here - all of it is not meeting minimum system requirements.

    1. Not enough RAM

    Built-in memory: 4096 MB
    Free memory: 792 MB
    Memory available to Photoshop: 1970 MB

    Minimum RAM is 8 GB (8,192 MB)

    2. Underpowered GPU

    GPU Memory is at the minimum of 1.5 GB (meaning anything else in your Mac that would use GPU would make this less than minimum available)

    Intel Iris 6100 clocks in at 557 ops/sec.

    Recommended Minimum is 2,000 ops/sec.

    3. Low HD/Scratch disk space

    Formatted for adobe, 112.8G, 35.8G free
    Macintosh HD, 112.8G, 35.8G free

    Minimum to simply run Photoshop is 20 GB.

    Recommended is 100 GB free space.

     

    In short, your Retina Mac was built with bare minimum specs at the time - 4 GB RAM, low-end GPU and only 100 GB HD and is lacking the resources to effectively run current Photoshop. 

     

    Running the Watercolor Artist actions is most likely using up your resources and leaving you with no HD, RAM or GPU available. You need to update your Retina Mac or downgrade your PS install. However with only 4 GB available RAM - I'm surprised the software even launches without issue.
