Correct answer owenpga2

I just selected another workspace and it came back.

I'm using latest version on pscc 22.5.3 I have a 2012 desktop so I can't update to the very latest version.

It's not specific to a single file.

Other than closing and restarting app, nothing.

Any idea why the workspace i was using all of the sudden stopped showing the check?
Thanks for your help.

Some ideas have already been given. If you can show us a screen shot with the missing checkbox we might be able to figure it out.

In case you need it another time, other ways to commit the text include pressing Enter on the Numeric Keypad (not Return) or switching tools.

I just tried switching among all of the built-in workspaces and the check button was there in all of them. To try to figure out what happened on your computer:

  • Which workspace does the check mark disappear, and is it a custom workspace?
  • Which display is this happening on, and what is the current resolution setting on that display?
  • Is the Photoshop application frame covering the entire display (maximized), or is it in one of the full screen modes?

In addition to those great tips, a few years ago Adobe added a third way: Move the pointer outside the active text box and click to commit the changes. So really, the check button is there mostly for visual convenience since there are three other ways to commit text changes: Click outside, press Enter on the numeric keypad, or switch tools.

Also, if you like the Enter shortcut but you use a compact keyboard without a numeric keypad, most PC and Mac laptop and compact keyboards will switch the main Enter key to a num pad Enter key if you also press Fn. In other words, on a keyboard without a numeric keypad, you can press Fn+Enter to commit text changes.

Have you made the application window less wide? Below a certain width, there is not enough space for the Commit check mark. See how it can disappear below.

Hi @owenpga2 I think you are talking about this check mark that you see in my screenshot, right? The text tool is selected, you are actively editing the text, but the checkmark is not there. What version of PS and what macOS are you using? Is this happening with any file that has a text layer or just one? What have you done to troubleshoot this so far? Have you tried to reset your workspace? Have you closed and restarted Photoshop? Reset your preferences?
