I am currently considering buying an iPad to create my sketches into digital art. What do people recommend?

The iPad Pro / M4 chip / 512GB is a good place to start. Add-on from there in terms of glass, stylus, data etc. as it makes the most sense for your workflow.

Just for clarity - all Adobe CC apps are not available for the iPad. As an example Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator have iPad versions, although they do not have all the functionality of the desktop versions. Fresco was developed for that environment.  However InDesign, After Effects and Premiere Pro are not available on the iPad.

It therefore really depends which applications you intend to use in your process.

Yes, that really needs stressing.  The best iPad for all the Adobe apps is a MacBook Pro!

I am thinking of using Fresco, to take photos of my sketches then digitalise them in fresco by drawing them.

You will love the iPad Pro - a client of mine produced all of her illustrations for her childrens book on her iPad Pro. She converted to Fresco and never looked back. If you'd like to see the book check it out here: https://karenmorgenbesser.com/im-still-me-inside-and-out

Thank you @cmgap can I use fresco on an older version of the iPad Pro?

The childrens book looks so cool and such an inspiring story. Thanks for sharing.

Have a Fantastic Friday.

That depends on how old your iPad is and how much storage you have. If you are considering which iPad to get to replace your old one - spring for the best that your budget allows. With the rapid changes in technology today I try to think of my hardware's realistic shelf life and build that into my business plan. 2 years for the iPad, 2 years for my macbook pro.... a bit longer for my camera and every other iPhone model... All of this are capital expenditures related to my business and I usually get a good trade-in value. Hobbyist's or non-commercial artists may not need to replace equipment as frequently. Hope that helps!
