What is the max resolution for generative fill in photoshop in 2025?

I´ll keep this super simple:

How come there is NO information about this past 2023?

What is the CURRENT max resolution for generative fill in Photoshop (not beta) in 2025?

Is it still 1024 x 1024?

Shouldnt this subject be tackled by adobe a LOT MORE? people keep creating super crappy looking "expanded generative fill" backgrounds that look like a pixel curse... and there is literally no info about this (or im just TERRIBLE looking for it... )

Anyone?

A couple of months ago I did some testing and 1024px x 1024px seemed to hold true for Generative Fill.

I think I read that Generate Image (in Photoshop (Beta)) would be able to create 2048px x 2048px, though.

Check out Adobe's current position on the cost of generative credits --

Generative credits overview

  • Generative credits FAQ
"Our generative AI features are evolving rapidly. This list will be updated as we add more features and services. We plan to offer a wider variety of resolutions, models, and mediums, including animation and 3D generative AI features in the future."

"Will these credit costs change when future generative AI capabilities and functionalities come out?

Adobe might introduce new media types — for example, 3D and video — or higher resolution image and vector generation in the future that may incur additional generative credits per generation or additional costs."

Perhaps if you dig deep on these webpages, you can find the information you desire. My casual eye-scan didn't see resolution numbers.

How to upscale an image with AI in Photoshop.

Increase the resolution of an image.

..."With Super Resolution in Photoshop and Lightroom, you can dramatically increase image resolution while keeping image quality in good shape....with Super Resolution, you can get four times the pixel count in any photo with the click of a button. And it’s not just any pixels — Photoshop and Lightroom use AI and ML to choose the best-looking pixels for the context of every image."

Hi Reenfoque,

Great question! I understand how important resolution is for professional work.

As C. Pfaffenbichler mentioned, the current max resolution for Generative Fill in Photoshop (desktop) is still 1024 x 1024 px per generation.

If you need higher resolution results, here are a couple of tips:

1. Enhance Details: Go to the Properties panel > Variations to select your preferred variation.

Select the Enhance Detail icon, and a duplicate of the variation is created. You now have both the original variation and the Enhanced Detail variation. Please take a look at the screenshot below.

2. Pro workflow suggestion: Jesus Ramirez has an excellent video on generating quality output using Generative fill in Photoshop: https://adobe.ly/40AjJvm

Hope this helps!

Best,

Anshul Saini
