Question

What is the "Adobe CEP HTML Engine"? It`s using too much from my processor.

I`m trying out Photoshop CC from the past 10 days. It`s going well, but now, every time I open it, the workspace blinks white and the processor runs slow, avoiding the actual use of Photoshop.

In the Task Manager I've identified this 4 Processes called: "Adobe CEP HTML Engine", using lots of processors %. Closing them, I got back to Photoshop and it`s possible to work again, till the next file.

Every time I start PS or leave the workspace with no opened file, it starts all over again. Then I have to go back to Task Manager and finish the same processes again.

How to fix it for good? Is it related to Behance?

I`m using a Dell notebook, Core I7, 8Gb RAM, Win10 64.

Cheers.

It is incredible that Adobe wasnt able to fix this so far. Really tempted to leave this crappy service of CC 2017 after i lost my illustrator artwork again due to this issue. Money and big time waste.

I'm also having this problem. The temporary solution was posted in March 2016... is there a fix from Adobe for this now?

I'll also throw my voice into the crowd. This has been a consistent and glaring problem problem for well over a year now.

Oh, i got it! I deleted the freakin file "CEPHtmlEngine.exe" and now my Premiere Pro CC 2015.2 run very very well because there is no High CPU usage of HTML Engine!

So, just go to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015\CEPHtmlEngine", backup the "CEPHtmlEngine.exe" (compress it using WinRar or something like that) and then delete this dump file using Shift key + Delete key!

I have the same issue: See Image of multiple CEP instances....

Will also now attempt to just delete the file after Adobe has not been able to fix the issue:

Its been a year!!!

I can confirm that deleting CEPHtmlEngine.exe (I just renamed it) in Illustrator fixed the problem for me. Since I renamed the file, I get two error messages on startup but everything else works flawlessly now. This issue needs to be addressed by Adobe at some point: Its been over a year now....

iirc i completely shut down CreativeVirus(the adobe launcher) with PS, and then went into some CEP folder on c:/ and just wiped everything that has CEP in it.

Its on windows tho i dunno if you can do the same on mac.

I'm having the issue now myself, I had to recently reinstall photoshop and now it's made the entire thing unusable due to it which I don't even think it appeared at all in task manager before now, it's not working with either photoshop 14 or 15, have'nt tried the newest one yet.

Deleting the file works to get rid of the processes but I lose my magicpicker extension because of it, which i've been using for a long time so it's not the issue.

I can't believe we're still dealing with this garbage!

Adobe, seriously get it together!!

I just updated and I'm getting this again!

I went in to each app, show contents, and I removed each CEPHtmlEngine thing and it doesn't do it anymore.

As soon as I'm able I'm dumping ADOBE and throwing a party!

None of the latest updates worked for me so I applied the workaround from Adobe: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/high_cpu_usage_cephtmlengine.html. I still see multiple CEPHtmlEngine Helper files opening and closing via monitor (Mac El Capitan), but it seems they are affecting the processor much less, but I still haven’t started working full throttle so I’ll recheck.
