It's showing a slice which is used for creating web graphics. If you want to hide it, select the Slice Select Tool. You can enter that into the Discover Panel (Edit > Search) to find it and click on it in the panel to select that tool. Then make sure the Options bar above the canvas is showing (Window > Options). With the Slice Select Tool selected, go to the Options bar and click the Hide Auto Slices button.
