What Photoshop preferences/settings can I change to optimize the performance/speed?

On a Windows computer, there are a variety of settings you can change that will ultimately improve the speed/performance of your computer. What are some similar setttings I could change in Photoshop? What are some of the "knobs" you can turn that will speed up the edits, improve processing speed, etc?
