When in Full Screen Mode, Panels Disappear When I Move An Image Using the Hand Tool (Windows 10)

I'm noticing this problem in the latest full version of Photoshop and the latest Beta version.  I've been using Photohsop for over 30 years with this exact same workflow/preferences and have never had this problem before.  When I enter Full Screen Mode using the F key, my panels are still visible, but when I use the Hand Tool to move an image around the screen, the panels disappear.  I can only bring them back by leaving Full Screen Mode (tapping F multiple times), then coming back into it.  When I reported this bug to the Photoshop Beta team, they suggested that I reset preferences.  I did, then the same problem returned 10 minutes later.  Please help me solve this because it's now too painful to work in Photoshop.  Thank you.

Hi All,

Sincere apologies for the delayed response. At Adobe, we strive to respond as quickly as possible and provide timely support. This certainly isn’t the level of service we aim to deliver.

There was a technical glitch; one of the replies in this thread was marked as spam. As a result, subsequent responses weren’t visible in our system, and the thread wasn’t flagged for follow-up. We’ve escalated this issue to the appropriate team to ensure it’s resolved and doesn’t affect other posts going forward.

Additionally, I was on leave last week and missed your mention. When I returned and was curating threads yesterday, I came across your post and immediately investigated why it hadn’t been assigned or responded to earlier, and that is when I found this glitch.

Apologies once again for the experience.

As for the issue you raised, I checked your system info and noticed you’re currently on Photoshop version 26.6.1. I’ve tested this on the latest version (26.8.1) and wasn’t able to reproduce the problem. Could you please update the app and let us know if the issue still persists?

Thanks again for your patience, and I’m really sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Best regards,

Srishti

So is this just a place to pretend like we're heard and blow off steam? @Srishti Bali was in here, asked for more info and then vanished. We haven't seen another Adobe employee comment here since.  I NEED to know this problem is being looked into.

I have the same problem and my uptime has almost doubled. I think this problem is caused by the update. I am going to revert to an older version now, see if that fixes it.

I reverted to version 26.5.0 and the problem is gone.

The problem you'll run into is @adobe will turn off abilities like A.I. generation, because you haven't updated in a while. What needs to happen is they need to fix the issue, not have their customers scrambling for a workaround.

I have this problem too. It started a few months ago, I keep hoping it's going to be fixed with the next version and it's not. It really is the first time I've started to think I might leave adobe, because it slows my daily work to a crawl. I do not care about any next exciting things adobe is working on, if I can't work in full screen because my panels keep disappearing when I click CTRL+V, and then reappear upon next click. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I've tried reseting my preferences. I've tried checking or unchecking boxes in Preference Settings. It's simply not on my end or anything I can fix. This is a problem adobe MUST address soon. It's been about 5 months of this problem. Please someone do something! It wasn't always like this, what changed?

I'm also experiencing this issue, which started with the latest update. I tried finding a solution to get rid of it. I always use Fullscreen mode, but now it is frustrating me as panels are getting hidden whenever I select any layer (Except text layers). In the preference panel, "Auto-Show Hidden Panels" is unchecked (see the attachment). Hoping for this to get resolved.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue, and it seems to have started with the latest update—or possibly the one before that. It's extremely frustrating to work like this, especially since Full Screen Mode has always been an essential part of my workflow. I really hope this gets addressed soon.

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue—I know how frustrating that can be. I tried to replicate the problem on my Windows machine but wasn’t able to reproduce it. To help us investigate further, would you mind sharing a few more details?

  • System Info: Go to Help > System Info in the app, copy the details into a Notepad file, and attach it here.

  • A short video: If possible, please share a brief recording that shows the issue and the steps leading up to it.

These details will help us better understand what's going wrong and guide you toward a solution. I look forward to your response!

Hi Srishti,

Thanks for following up.

Just checking in—it's been about two weeks since I sent over the System Info and a video demonstrating the issue. I wanted to ask if there are any updates or if the team needs anything else from my side to move forward.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Full Screen mode for me always hid panels and toolbar, unless I move my pointer to the left or right edge.

Can you tap on the TAB key to bring them back? I have Ps v 26.6 on MacOS 12.7.6 and don't notice it.

Also under Preferences > Workspace, see if checking or unchecking "Auto Show Hidden Panels" helps.

Lastly, try resetting your prefs.

Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately that’s not the issue. Pressing TAB does bring the panels back—but now it takes two presses instead of one, which wasn’t the case before. Previously, a single press would restore everything instantly.

Also, sometimes the panels randomly disappear again in the middle of editing, even without pressing anything. We're then forced to press TAB twice again, or exit Full Screen Mode and return to it. It’s really disruptive to the workflow.

For reference, I’m on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 with Photoshop version 26.6.1.
