Question

When running scripts files get converted from 16bit to 8 bit

I am having an issue where when I run scripts >image processor my files are being converted from 16-bit down to 8-bit and then the color profile is changed from Adobe RGB (1998) to sRGB. This is not in my actions at all.  The action was simple Flatten file>convert to Adobe RGB>Save as Tiff>close.  When I run the action manually the file stays in 16bit and in Adobe RGB (1998).  I've used this process countless times and this is the first time it's changing my files to this random 8-bit, sRGB files.  Is this a bug or did I miss something?

The version of PS is 24.4.1

I get wonky results with the image processor duplicating your steps even in photoshop cs6, so maybe there is a bug, however, i would use the Image Processor itself to save the tif files and in your action disable the save and close steps.

I don't believe Adobe intended the Image Processor to work with save as steps in actions, so that's why there are file formats to save to in the image processor.

Different results as in its changing the file on you as well?  I don't have this problem on my PC but it's happening on my work Mac Computer which I believe it is running 10.14.

What's strange is that hlaf of the files were converted to 8-bit sRGB and the rest were fine

Any reason you can't just use the Convert to Profile step in your action and let the Image Processor do the other like saving to tif and the file location Image Processor?

Or you could use File>Automate>Batch, which would be better suited for your action.

In the Image Processor dialog which file format is checked to save?

It's set to save as a Jpeg.  I have a separate folder for it to dump those images into but because the action has "close" in it, it never creates the Jpeg, which is normal.

Can you post a screenshot of the action with the steps open?

Nope, because I flatten the file first and then I go to Edit>convert to profile and the flattened file is grayed out.
