Where are 2021/2020 PS brushes stored?

I installed Windows on new drive and started pulling files from my old one, however I can't find any of my 2020 or 2021 PS brushes in Program Files, AppData, ProgramData, or anywhere else on that drive.

Did PS change how it stores the brushes?

I would like to recover them if possible since I have several custom ones. Sadly I can't get on old Windows or the old PS in order to export it from the software itself.

Did you ever actually save the preset-file (.abr)?

Even if not you should be able to retrieve them the Brushes.psp-file:

»what does that mean? Did you ever actually save the preset-file (.abr)?«

If you never save your custom brushes as abr-files they only exist in the preferences – and those can get corrupted.

So if you have created some useful brushes make sure to at least occasionally save them (»Export Selected Brushes« from the Brushes Panel’s pop-up-menu) and back them up.
