Where are the technology previews?

New Here ,

Hello- anyone have any idea why I can't see technology previews? Adobe's guide mentions lots of options but I don't see any when I go to Preferences - Technology Previews. I am trying to enable the atuo-trace function for the pen tool.

Using Photoshop CC 2020 on a Mac.

Thank you!

It looks like nothing is wrong. You have the Technology Preview that was available  back in Photoshop 2020 (Preserve Details 2.0).

Apparently Content-Aware Tracing Tool started appearing in Photoshop 2021, along with two more. The list of Technology Previews got longer in each version; in Photoshop 2024 there are five. Some get removed as they graduate to being a permanent feature.

My personal opinion of the Content-Aware Tracing Tool is that I didn’t understand the point of it, because what it was trying to do was already working much more effectively in the Magnetic Lasso tool. The Content-Aware Tracing Tool still has not graduated from Technology Preview to a real feature, so I guess they haven’t yet worked out how to make it significantly better than the Magnetic Lasso tool.

May one ask why you are using an obsolete Photoshop version? (I am not contesting that there may be valid reasons.)
