Where is the Introduction to Scripting document? (PS CS3)

New Here ,
Feb 16, 2009 Feb 16, 2009
On p. 5 of the Photoshop CS3 VBScript Ref it says that:

>Documentation that provides an overview of Scripting is now found in a new document entitled Introduction to Scripting, instead of in the Photoshop CS3 Scripting Guide.

I can't seem to find the Introduction to Scription document in my distribution. Does anyone know whether the information above is accurate, and if so, where the document is located? (I'm running WinXP.)

Thanks,
Matt

I work on a Mac, so it might be different with Your setup, but my »ExtendScript Toolkit 2«-Folder containa a Folder »SDK«, which contains a pdf named »Adobe Intro to Scripting.pdf«.
But I think all those instructional pdfs are also available as downloads; have You googled it already?

You should find it here:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Scripting Guide

The directory:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Scripting Guide

on my system has four pdf files, none of which are the "Introduction To Scripting" guide. (Indeed, it was references in those files to that guide that motivated me to post.)

I can't find an "ExtendScript Toolkit 2" folder on my system, but if I google for "Adobe Intro to Scripting.pdf" I do get one hit here:

http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/products/indesign/scripting/pdfs/Adobe_Intro_to_Scripting1.pdf

But I don't know if this is the guide to which the existing documents are actually referring.

A search at Adobe's website finds these:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/bridge/pdfs/adobe_intro_to_scripting.pdf

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/scripting/pdfs/adobe_intro_to_scripting.pdf

More links here:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/scripting/

I assume the adobe_intro_to_scripting.pdf is the document I'm looking for. It's just odd that Adobe didn't include it in the CS3 distribution.

Thanks for the help,
Matt

I did ultimately find the directory (WinXP) to which you refer; it's under utilities so I missed it the first time:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities\ExtendScript Toolkit 2\SDK

The "Adobe Intro to Scripting.pdf" guide is indeed there. Thanks for the pointer.
