When did Photoshop get so complicated? Why are there so many different version?
I bought Photoshop Elements 2021. I generally use it to touch up 3D renders made with Daz Studio. I'm trying to make an image series into a video but Elements apparently won't do this?
Which of the 75 different versions of Photoshop do I need?
You will need the desktop version of Photoshop, which is a subscription.

There are only two versions sold. Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CC which has more functionality.
The first you are familiar with, the second is subscription only but is available in various subscription plans. The Photoshop application is identical in all those plans. What varies is how you pay and the minimum commitment time that you pay sign up for. Many find the Photography plan cost effective as it gives yo Photoshop and Lightroom for less than the cost of Photoshop standalone. It is a 12 month plan which is paid in monthly payments.

What, two?
There is Photoshop CC, the professional tool - steep learning curve - subscription.
There is Photoshop Elements, slimmed down, simplified for consumers - perpetual license.
That's it really.
Unfortunately Adobe stick the Photoshop brand on other unrelated apps too, many of them only on mobile, and some just pointless, like "Photoshop Lightroom" which used to be called just Lightroom.
Serious video work would use Adobe's video tools, however. Photoshop's video facilities are basic at best.

I count eight applications with "Photoshop" in the name in these forums, but only one is called "Photoshop". The other six are for various mobile devices. I know PS for iPad is included with a Photoshop subscription, and the others might be. I've summed them up below.
PS Express
https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-express.html
Is Photoshop Express the same as Photoshop?
While part of the Adobe Photoshop family, Photoshop Express is specifically built for mobile device photography. Its accessible interface enables photo collage edits and social network sharing.
PS Fix and Mix (end of life)

Why is Adobe removing Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix from the App Store?
Your favorite features, tools, plus more, from Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix are being added to Photoshop Express, where we are focusing and dedicating our resources to provide you with the best all-in-one photo editing mobile app in the market.
PS Sketch
https://www.adobe.com/products/sketch.html
Photoshop Sketch lets you create expressive drawings anywhere using natural drawing tools like pencils, pens, markers, and watercolor brushes to get all the textures and blending effects you’d get on paper.
PS Camera
https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-camera.html
Imagine if the magic of Photoshop was inside your camera. With Photoshop Camera, it really is. It’s an intelligent camera app that suggests the best lenses and filters for your photos — before you even take the shot. And with new lenses added all the time, there’s no end to the fun you’ll have.
Photoshop for Mobile

Currently only available on iPad

Hi,
You can turn your still images into an animated GIF with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021:
Optimize images for GIF or PNG-8 format (from the Photoshop Elements User Guide)
But if that is not high enough quality or the file size becomes too large, you might want to consider purchasing Photoshop Elements' sister product, Adobe Premiere Elements 2021.
Check out this thread on the Premiere Elements Support Community:
Create a video from stills using Photoshop or Premiere Elements
If you think that sounds like what you need, why not download a 30-day free trial of Adobe Premiere Elements 2021 and see if that fits the bill before committing yourself to buying it:
Download Premiere Elements free trial
Another option is to give the desktop version of Adobe Premiere Rush a go as well. You've already got a free Creative Cloud account (when you installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021) so you get an Adobe Premiere Rush Starter Plan for free with that. It's a bit of a pain to create a video from still images in the current release (you have to manually adjust the clip duration for each image) but it's doable if you have the patience 🙂
Hope that helps 🙂
