White/yellow space placed in image when saving

Anyone noticed a white or yellow space being placed in an image when saving? It's been happening randomly to me when saving a .tif (white space). The white space doesn't show in the image until it's placed or updated in AI or INDD. Until today resaving as a .psd has solved the problem. Today I had a similar problem with a .psd file (screenshot attached). The space was yellow instead of white. I resaved the image and it went away.

Anyone have an idea on this?

It has happened with the newest PS (26.0.0) and the 2024 version.

Running MacOS 14.6.1 on Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2019 iMac

Hey, @jasone69200079. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out. 

Please share specific details, such as video recordings, including the Layers panel. Does this happen with particular documents? 

Where are the original documents stored, on an internal or an external drive? 

 

If the file is on an external drive, try saving it on the internal drive and checking how it goes. 


If that does not help, ensure no stale preferences are present in your Photoshop.

Go to the location of the preference folder mentioned below and rename it to back up. (https://adobe.ly/3u7u84j)

macOS: Hold down the Option key in the Finder when using the Go menu. The library will appear below the current user's home directory.

Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2025 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2025.old)

 

This will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a new installation.

To answer your questions:

Please share specific details, such as video recordings, including the Layers panel. Does this happen with particular documents?  -  These are flattened .tif and .psd files (only a background layer). These files are prepped for printing (CMYK), so there's no video involved. It's been a random occurance and as I said, it only shows up when the image is linked or relinked in Illustrator or InDesign.

 

Where are the original documents stored, on an internal or an external drive? - We use a network server to store files, but I have tried to save files locally and noticed the same issue.

 

I will try the preferences suggestion and see if it happens again.

Did resetting preferences help? 

If possible, try to share your whole workflow with sample images. Also, working through and saving to external or network drives may cause unexpected results. We've shared more details here: https://adobe.ly/3URShGt
