Why are the transform handles not showing up when I select any text in a textbox?

Hi. I've had this issue since yesterday. I've tried checking the Graphics processor on and off and restarting Photoshop but it didn't seem to help. Any tips?

Sorry - my own silly mistake! I had to convert it to paragraph text. It threw me off becayuse it happened suddenly and I had no ide how or why. Anyways. This issue is solved. Thank you.

Is it definitely a text box and not just a plain type layer?  

When you drag out a new text box, are you saying that if you OK it and then double click, you are not seeing the bounding box?
