My layer mask thumbnails look different in PS 2020 than they did before and I can't figure out why or how to change how they appear. I can't see what my selection is in the window like before . This is what it looks like no matter what I do. How do I get it so it show the selection in black/white like it used to?
This is what my layer mask preview looks like and doesn't change

Hi
Check your panel options from the flyout menu, more than likely the thumbnail size is set to none

Click the drop down menu at the top right of the layers panel. Then choose "Panel Options" and set the thumbnail size to something other than "None"
