Why does my image and canvas size increase after a crop?

For the last 6 months or so whenever I crop an image it increases in image and canvas size.

Can anyone help to solve this?

Original image size 5472 px x 3648 px 114.2 MB

After...on cropping to ~25% of original 7900 px x 6167 px 278.8 MB

iMac (27", late 2012) Catalina 10.15.7 (Yes...I know its old!)

PS 22.5.1

Thanks everyone...mentioning the Menu Bar I realised I had set 7900 px width after cropping.

Don't remember when I did it...fixed.
