Why does Photoshop CS6 blink on Windows 8?

When using Photoshop CS6, my screen blinks and flashes, especially when using editing tools or adjusting the image (increasing/decreasing size.)  I am an Adobe Cloud member and using a new machine that has Windows 8 which I am still getting used to.  I had been using my CS apps on my laptop/W7 with no problem whatsoever.  Not sure if the OS makes a difference.  Suggestions?  Thank you.

Known problem with Windows 8 GPU drivers.

We're working with the GPU vendors and Microsoft to come up with a solution.

For the time being, set the GPU drawing mode to "Basic" in preferences.

    Guaranteed to work:

    Solution

Change the GPU Drawing Mode to Basic:

    1. In Photoshop, choose Edit > Preferences > Performance.
    2. Select Advanced Settings.
    3. Choose Basic from the Drawing Mode pop-up menu.
    4. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.

This solution worked great for me.  I am using Photoshop CC on a new Windows 8 machine.

    Solution Found!

    [:Instructions:]

    [--

    1) Click your Battery Display in the ToolBar.

    2) Change Power Settings to "High Performance"

2B) If you do not have a button titled "High Performance" then click "More Power Options" It should show up. If not, click the arrow on the line connecting to the text "Show Additional Power Plans" It now should show up.

    3) Close Photoshop CC/CS6 and restart the program.

    4) It should now work. If not, try updating your drivers or check if the program is compatible with your current OS.

"1) Click your Battery Display in the ToolBar."

It sounds like you're on a laptop? I'm on a desktop PC running Windows 7, and I don't think I have a battery display.

I noticed your response mentioned that Adobe and Microsoft are working together to fix this blinking problem in 2012.  Have they come up with anything yet?  It is impossible for me to select or transform images, which makes photoshop pretty useless for me.

Snofox, I do hope you got this sorted out. I can imagine the frustration ..

but hopefully, today you have a driver that works. Do let us know.

Not even the fifteenth try is a charm. I have tried every which way to install this driver (13.9) but it won't install... like the others. After I run the install, Device Manager reports the old driver 8.982.10.0. So I ran the Uninstall utility from AMD and rebooted. Then I went through device manager to check the driver, and it listed what I think is a Microsoft version dated June 2012. So I go to update the driver, find the 13.9 in the AMD folder, click to install...... and Windows flashes a message that IT has determined that I have the most up to date driver and will not allow me to go any further. So I navigate to the driver location myself, double click on the executive, it goes through all of the install screens and .... nothing. The version 8.9 driver from 2012 is still installed. And Photoshop at start up flashes me a message that it has found a problem with the graphics driver and has disabled some features. So now I am worse off than ever.

This piece of junk is going back to the dealer right now.
