Why does Photoshop destroy preview icons on the Mac?

This has been going on for years, with Adobe blaming Apple, but I think it's time to bring it up again. I'm an artist and I rely on icons and previews to view my files in finder. Whenever I save a file in Photoshop, the TIF or PSD preview is just the broken standard icon with no image.

I have a program called image2icon. I can drag and drop a file there and create the preview image and little icon in the top bar in Photoshop. But as soon as I open a file in PS and save it, Photoshop destroys the icon.

Some years ago Adobe kept blaming Apple for this, and after years of frustration everyone just gave up. But it's super annoying, and really does hinder my ability to open a folder and look at images. It's completely lame, and I think Adobe needs to own up to this.

Why can't PS generate preview icons? And why does it destroy them when they're there? And what would it take for Adobe to fix this long standing obnoxious error?

Note that the icons that do appear I have created them manually using image2icon. The icons persist when I shutdown and restart. They behave as expected, UNTIL I open a file and save it in PS, then it gets destroyed. I can even open a file and save it in GIMP and it works. So why can't Adobe perform better than a free open source app?

I just found an old thread I created about this. It's still broken, and I'm pretty sure Adobe is still blaming Apple. The time I waste hunting for files because I can't view icons is insane.

Well, considering Macintosh’s history it wouldn’t seem impossible that it is their fault indeed … not saying there are no bugs in Photoshop but not every ostensibly Photoshop-related problem is Adobe’s fault.

In the meantime you may want to consider using Bridge for browsing your files.

Turn them off in Adobe Photoshop preferences, and let image2icon do the job for you.

The icon previews have been spotty in the past, but they are working good for me in High Sierra. I am not upgrading my OS, intetnionally as that is the most stable for netowrk issues, and want to continue using  Adobe Muse. Although at work I have Catralina and my icon previews are working also.

Thans for sharing your art, most of us are visual peopel and love seeing others artwork.

Adobe needs to fix this. Image2icon is manual and i can't manually create an icon every time imsave a file. Adobe's performance here is just absolute garbage.
