Why is smudging slower than molasses, with no smoothing?

If I pick a simple square and give it angle jitter, I get no smoothing, and the brush takes MINUTES to catch up on an 8-core machine with a 2060 super.

The blender works a treat! But smudge? Total fail. Zoom out, use a large brush -- whoa! Go get a coffee and wait for Photoshop to catch up!!! Can I add smoothing?

Hi @Matt255164214i9e when did this start to happen for you? What changes have you done recently to your computer/OS or version of Ps?

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
