Why make people pay monthly...

New Here ,
Aug 09, 2019 Aug 09, 2019

I'm aware that when I say this I'll get some shame, but I was given ps6 as a gift to upload my drawings into and color them, since I am disabled and don't have much else to do..

I don't understand why all of the sudden one little program has turned into such a mess for my computer. I don't much care to know the solution of it being, I guess, pirated since it was not given by adobe itself, though they did purchase it for a affordable price. Is there another program within adobe that allows color and maybe alteration to fix errors in my drawing without paying a monthly? Because that monthly is ridiculous.  I will say, kudos for them digging in the pockets of the very wealthy to never fully receive a product of theirs now. Almost feels like a game subscription, which I want to clarify I understand that most products are used for companies. But for me, a little person, not in a big company. I can't afford this, so what's the alternative since the program needs to leave my computer asap by my own force or adobes. Without a monthly sub for the rest of my 'life'.

Hi Pandarant,

That isn't a great user experience, we're sorry to hear about this. Please explain the issue you're facing with Photoshop CS6 in more detail with a brief description of your workflow.

What is not working as expected? We are here to help, just need some more info.

Thanks,

Might be worth noting that Photoshop CS6 was $700, and that’s SIX YEARS of the monthly plan. And long before six years was up, Mac or Windows would change and you’d have to buy again anyway. So it’s now quite a bargain. But it’s also a top professional tool. For just $120 per year...amazing. By contrast if you wanted to do CAD drawing the key professional tool is around $2000 per year...

Hi there,

As far as I know, you don't have to pay month after month for the rest of your life.

You can pay for one month and then not pay for another 6 months if you aren't using it regularly. Then if you have the need to, pay for another month and use it that month.

But I do understand your concern, its quite a bother if you aren't a regular day to day user of their programs to keep paying for a month even if you have only a few days use.

Perhaps Adobe could make a one time/one day use purchase too, or say a weekly purchase. It would be so, so affordable to people globally.

Hi

The Photography plan is an annual plan at a great price and can be paid in a lump sum or monthly. The single app plan is a little more than twice as much per month as the Photography plan and can be cancelled at any time.

I think you might have missed my point!

A one time short time use purchase, as I talked of, would be far more affordable by many more people who do not use Adobe programs on a day to day basis. Moreover, a one-time purchase is different from having to register for monthly payments and then forgetting to 'Cancel' it if one doesn't require it the next month and no having one's CCard charged.

This having to 'Cancel' before the beginning of the next month, in my opinion, is certainly not a customer comes-first approach. It is in rampant use for online subscription based purchases and needs a rethink.

I think your point was clearle stated.

" Perhaps Adobe could make a one time/one day use purchase too, or say a weekly purchase. It would be so, so affordable to people globally."

Adobe management I'm sure would make Photoshop more affordable if they could make a business case that showed doing that would increase their bottom line in a positive way. Recoup the cost of implementing and administrating weekly plans plus add to the bottom line.

Its nice to dream isn't it.

Hi PandaRant,

When someone gives you pirated software, it’s best not to call it a “gift” — it’s accepting stolen goods. Some of the pirated versions of Photoshop also contain malware, and it’s never worth the risk to your computer and your files.

To me, the monthly plan is less daunting than having to pay $600-700 for the app.  Before the monthly deal, the only way I could afford Photoshop was when I was a college student, buying the software the school subsidized the price of.  I know people don't like the monthly set up,  but as someone said, you can opt to pay once a year as opposed to monthly.

Photoshop CS6 hasn't changed at all, it's the newer operating system you have that may have may caused issues. If you go back to the OS that it was originally designed for you shouldn't have any problems and you can use it for all time!

Of course, if it is a pirated version then don't expect any help here.

Photoshop version 6 is 20 years old it was released in September 2000.  You may be able to fix your problems  by resetting Your Photoshop 6 preferences.

If all you use Photoshop for is coloring you drawing you may be better off geting an application design for Painting and drwaing there are many low cost drawing and painting  application that would fill your requirements better than Photoshop. Photoshop is more and Image editing application that also has  some painting features,

20 yeasr ago Photoshop 6 cost $700 someone liked you  when the gave you Photoshop 6 back then.

If you're working with drawings, you should be using a vector graphics editor like Illustrator or Inkscape, not Photoshop.

Not necessarily.  I work with drawings,  but I would much rather use a raster based program like Photoshop or Clip Studio.  But that's also the way I work with illustration.  If you're doing clean images, then yeah, a vector based program might be better.

The point is there are lots of free and low cost graphics editors around for anyone willing to do a Google search to find them.    Using new tools can sometimes inspire us to consider new & creative workflows.

I honestly don't know if it was pirated. I'm only guessing since Adobe is doing a pop-up that interferes with other things on the system, even if they are full screen. Which the pop up states my software is invalid and I have forty days. Like I said, it's understandable. I call it a gift because it was given to me as one and I know the purchased it, I just don't know the price of how much they were willing to go. I always found it rude to ask such things when receiving an item from loved ones. It's the thought that counts. I downloaded Adobe CS2. But it's a bit lackluster in movement and doesn't seem to work well with my drawing pad.

I'm not looking for my possible pirate version to be fixed, for clarification. I just wanted some options. I'm aware how much photoshop costs overall. I used to be in college for graphic design before I became disabled. There was just no clarification on the page if I ever paid it off or could just outright buy photoshop at some point. The 10 dollar plan seems to be the best option, as elements isn't what I'm looking for. I'll look around on the web. I just really enjoyed adobe products and didn't want to make the move. I've been using photoshop since I was a kid, guess that's why I even relied on it to color in my drawings and use layers to make it pop. lol

My only problem is now I can't get Adobe to uninstall from my system, so it can take photoshop with it. Until I decide a better option, because the pop up is killing me.

Hi

This is a user forum and we can try to help you uninstall.

In your first post you said CS6 and now you are saying CS2. Can you confirm the version you have installed? Also your Operating System and version?

What does the pop-up say exactly? A screen shot is useful.

You can download a free seven day trial to confirm it works before committing to purchase.

We are not judging you or your family member. Other people have unknowingly bought pirated copies from eBay, etc., and then gotten Malware. Piracy should be reported to Adobe if you know where it was purchased.

First you wrote Photoshop 6  Now you write Photoshop CS6 and that you also Downloaded Photoshop CS2.   Is Photoshop CS6 listed as one of your Adobe products in your Adobe Account? Did someone actually give you a $700 Adobe CS6 standard or a or $1000  CS6 Extended product?  CS2 is not  free no version of Photoshop is free software. Also Perpetual Photoshop versions are no longer marketed by Adobe.

Sign into your Adobe account and check what Adobe has recorded as you Products for your account. Photoshop CS6 is Version 13 of Photoshop.

I beginning to believe  you do not have a licence to use any version of Photoshop.  There are many good free and low cost drawing  applications available that you can user which may suite your needs better then Photoshop.
