Latest versions of everything on Mac w/ Mojave OS, PS / CC...
Suddenly I cannot have the move tool selected as normal, no caps lock key or anything else to alter, and then press my normal space bar and command key together and get nothing, no zoom tool... the only way I can get the zoom tool now is to select the hand tool and then the spacebar and command key yield the zoom tool...
Never had this happen before, have no idea what has happened... has their been a change in PS with the latest update? I don't see why this would change... very inconvenient... Does someone know the way to restore so I don't need to select the hand tool to zoom in?

I appreciate your help with this mystery Kstohlmeyer1, but this morning, without unplugging the wacom tablet or doing anything else, the spacebar suddenly and reliably now produces the hand tool and the hand tool, space bar and command key also no behave normally and produce the zoom tool. It's great to have this working again, the sad part is that how this came about and now, how it is fixed, remains a mystery. I was getting ready to remove and re-install Photoshop CC but now even that is not n

Thanks kstohlmeyer1, I have combed through the menus, carefully checking all, and see shortcuts for zoom in and out, the + and - keys with the command key of course, but nothing for altering existing tools by pressing keys... this was a shortcut to change the existing move tool into the zoom tool (has been the same since version 1 of Photoshop - just press the space bar and command key while the move tool is selected) and now with more recent versions, I could use scrubby zoom... it's not working now. I need to select the hand tool to make it work now... I have changed nothing and it just started this behavior a few days ago...

when you do command+space do you get the Spotlight Command in Mojave? It could be conflicting.

What it does now, is not select spotlight but does put a check mark in the upper left hand corner in the box called 'auto select' and when I release the spacebar and command key the auto-select box goes back to unchecked. I have had Mojave for quite a while, since it was released, no problems, and this behavior has only started a few days ago.

You are on the move tool. Command by itself toggles auto select.

Yes, I see command alone toggles auto-select, and for the zoom tool, I always press the spacebar slightly ahead of the command key so then I have both pressed down and that used to always get me the zoom tool, but no longer, does not and I've also tried various keyboards to check that angle, still no zoom tool... The only way I can get the zoom tool by keyboard command is to select the hand tool first... I'm sure there is some explanation if you agree that using the move tool that space-command key should get the zoom tool... the way it has always worked by default in Photoshop....

If you hit your space bar by itself - do you still get the hand tool?

The move tool stays the move tool when I press spacebar - I’ve tried different keyboards to verify.

Do you have any other peripherals plugged in like a Wacom tablet or other input device?
I can't replicate this with PS CC2019 on Mojave out of the box with all the updates run.

Yes, I have used wacom tablet with no problem so should be fine. Nothing else.

Try unplugging your wacom tablet then see if the spacebar works as the hand tool shortcut.

If it happens again, double check by unplugging your Wacom tablet. I've had other instances where it conflicts with the space bar for some reason.
