Why simply paint tool can open any file, but photoshop cant? It says "its not png file" yes, sure, i know. Why you cant open it? I dont care if its not png. Paint open it easy.
And another dumb situation, when "missing market' or "market SOS' WHAT IS THIS? JUST OPEN IMAGE PLEASE!
ITS app for edit images, but can open simply images. So dumb

The file sounds corrupted to me; guessing that Photoshop is encountering the PNG magic bits in the file, but its parser is choking on it. I have no idea what 'market SOS' means, or in what context it appears.

@Mark.DahmI assume you are checking the magic bits if you have a file type mismatch?

For anyone unfamiliar with magic bits, many file types (should) have a signature at the beginning of the file that signifies the type.

Just as a note, macOS also hides file extensions by default. So both operating systems can have this problem.

If there is a .png extension (which Windows can hide from you) on a non PNG file  then that will confuse Photoshop. Change the extension, or use the file format dropdown in Photoshop's 'Open' menu to pick a different format for the file when you open it.

We had done some work in the past to retry different formats instead of having the parser lock up like this, but something may have changed to limit that flexibility. I suspect Paint is iterating through the parsers to catch mismatches between filenames and formats.

Sorry for the frustrating time with the file.

This makes no sense to me. I think you need to post a screenshot of that dialog, plus a screenshot from Explorer showing the file in question.

Do you have file extensions hidden? If so, turn them on. This is a Windows setting.
