Will CS2 run with OSX Sierra? [was: Ben10]

Hello, I am new to these issues and I hope someone can help me. I have a copy of Adobe CS2 Standard that I was using Photoshop from on an old mac that recently bit the dust.

I now have a new MacBook Pro Space Grey running OS Sierra and I want to know if I can up-grade or replace my Adobe CS2 software to use on the new Mac without paying for it over again. I still have the original packaging.

I don't know where to find the answer to my question?

I'd be really glad to hear from someone who does?

Thank you.

Ben

Your CS2 is useless to you. It is obsolete and cannot work with your new computer.

1. CS2 requires either a "PPC Mac" or a Mac running "Rosetta". No PPC Macs have been made since 2006, ten years ago. Rosetta hasn't been included in Mac OS since 10.7. Current Macs can't run old 10.7 systems.

2. Adobe keep upgrade pricing for a couple of versions. That would have been CS3, CS4. Since then there have been 6 newer versions.

3. Photoshop is no longer sold, it is subcription only. From $10/month.

Photoshop Elements, an entry level (consumer rather than Pro) software is still sold.

You can download CS2 from here, but I don't know if it will run with Sierra.  I suspect that it is unlikely.

A subscription to the latest version of Photoshop (CC2017), including Lightroom, only costs a few dollars / pounds a month. You'll appreciate the latest features such as the retina screen, which will make your images look gorgeous on your new Mac Book Pro!

Hi Derek,

Thanks for your reply however as I have already paid for the software once I would prefer to get the upgrade as a standalone item and not saddle myself with an indefinite subscription.

Do you know what alternatives I have?

Thank you.

You can get Photoshop Elements for a one off payment.
