Windows reboot and unsaved file in photoshop

Hi everyone,

I was using Photoshop CS6 before I updated to 2020.  When ever Windows decided to reboot, without asking me, to install Updates, most of the files I was working on in Photoshop whitout saving them where show as "recovered" when I restart Photoshop after the reboot.

Now, in Photoshop 2020, when ever a reboot is done, again without asking me often during the night, Photoshop dont show me the "recovered files". (** I have lost so many files and also a lot of time **)

So, is there a way to configre Photoshop to show me those unsaved files that where open at the reboot time ? 

Also, is there a way of showing the "history" for those files when restarting Photoshop after a Windows reboot.

By the way, I have now configured Windows to not applying Updates and rebooting without asking me before, but Windows often do it on it's own !!?@$#&**!.

Don't you save your files as you working on them, incremental saving is the best option and backups are also very important, I never rely on Photoshop's autorecovery as it doesn't work at best of times.

The autorecover folder is normally at the root of where you set the scratch disk.

Do you actually leave Photoshop opened with unsaved changes, you're only looking for trouble if that's the case

Thank you for your reply.

I know I don't always use "good manners" by not always saving up the files I work on, but I'll work on that  For example yesterday, while I was working on several photos, I had to be absent for thirty minutes and I did not take the time to save everything knowing that I would be back shortly. Unfortunately, that's when a power failure occurred. So there are situations where it is not always possible to save everything.

I would definitely appreciate Photoshop being able to show me the files I was working on after a sittuation like that, despite not having saved them yet. In addition, I would also like to see there the history of the modifications that I had made.

Is it possible to configure Photoshop for this? Thank you.

Once Photoshop closes you loose any history states I'm afraid

Affinity Photo has the option to save History States, there's no such option in Photoshop

Do you have the AutoSave option enabled in preferences
