Wondering where the Gradients and Styles folders have gone for presets that ship with Photoshop

The Presets directory for presets that ship with Photoshop is still located in the same place on Mac:  Macintosh HD/Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2024/Presets

The Actions and Brushes folders are still in that location, but the Gradients and Styles folders are strangely absent.  A lot of gradients and presets come with Photoshop, but they appear to no longer be resident in the program.  Are they now being downloaded from Adobe's cloud when a major update is installed?  I'm using these particular assets more, so I like to know where they are on the back end.

Correct answer Jeff Arola

Since Adobe revamped some of the presets panels, they moved many of the default presets to the Required folder inside the Adobe Photoshop 2024.app and they are named, for example, Default Gradients and Legacy Gradients..

Right click on the Adobe Photoshop 2024.app, click Show Package Contents, then look in the Contents>Required folder.

If you want to add your own presets put them in

Macintosh HD/Users/UserName/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 2024/Presets

That's interesting Jeff.  It's like a big ol' library of Photoshop goodies.

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024\Required

The default Sky_Presets are tucked away in that file path.  It has 25 assorted sized JPGs — 4000 pixels wide being the smallest — but the is also a 5Mb file called DefaultSkies.sky so I'm thinking you couldn't sneak an extra sky jpg or two into the folder and expect Photoshop to find it.  Not that we need to of course.  The default workspaces are all there plus a few .8BF files, so you could ask a buddy to send you one if your's gets corrupted.

If you turn on the relevant panels under the Window menu, you can add the legacy presets from there.

For instance

If you want to find them on the drive

Correction:  The Styles folder is there, but there is only one ASL file in the folder.
