I'm trying to place a square image inside of a decorative frame.  I am confused what my 1st, 2nd steps should be.  I have listened to layers tutorial 1-3 times. I thought using the place embedded command would work.   Help

Carolyn, adding to what Sahil and Derek have said, I'm inclined to add Canvas size to the original image rather than import the  frame, and transform the image to fit the frame.  This leaves you with the best quality image, as Transform Is nearly always going to have a negative impact.  Be aware of the interpolation options when using Free Transform.  As a worst case example, Nearest Neighbour can do terrible damage to your original image.  With sharp originals, I like to  use Bilinear, and you can add a touch of sharpening if required.

Note that if transforming a frame to an existing image, then you will end up with the top and bottom of the frame, having a different width to the sides, if the frame and original image do not have the same aspect ratio.

It is useful to look at the steps in frame Actions to see what the workflow is.  (Assuming the Action is well made).

There are a number of Frames in Actions, for example (and they can be edited):

    Hi Carolyn,

As you're looking to add a frame to the image, first you need to open the image in Photoshop. Once you have the image opened, go to File > Place Embedded and choose the decorative frame file and hit OK.

The frame will be placed automatically over the image and you will see a transformation box around the image, you can adjust and transform the size of the frame according to the image by using the move tool.

Click and expand the transform box from the corners.

Once you have your desired result, hit Enter.

    Regards,
    Sahil

Thank you, I think I was doing just the opposite, opening the frame 1st then attempting to place the image in the frame.
