Hello I´m a designer and working with so-called mockups. Until a couple of days ago I only worked with standard mockups with only two smart objects, one for back and one for the front.
Now I have started to work with a mockup with two more layers, for sides, so-called ghost files.
It´s a way to see the sides and chance glue front and back better together.
So it´s One PSD file with two layers, back, and front.
My problem is that to be able to edit a layer I have to double click it, as one do, and then my guide (the other layer) on what to do disappear. I mean make path/make hundreds of other edits without seeing the other layer is impossible.
I have to see the other layer to be able to work this way. Is there a way as I could edit out in the PSD window to link that to layer? or anything sells I can do? Below is a pic of the PSD and front and back layers. It got to be some way to do this. Yes I can edit Layers in the PSD window but the layer it´s connected to won't be updated. Below is what I´m rumbling about.

There are no standards as far as I know for mockup templates. It sounds like you are double clicking on a smart object layer's content thumbnail in the Mockup Template's layers palette and it is a Photoshop Object. So Photoshop opens a work document for you with the Layer's current object content that you can edit to update the layers smart object. If you modify the work document and close it. If you save your changes during close Photoshop will updated the template's Smart Object Layer's Object. You should be able to see and edit all the layers in the smart object and align to guides in the smart object. If you need guides in the object you need to add them. They will be saved in the object. In the Mockup template document you can align the smart object layer to guides in the mockup. You can post your Mockup PSD if you need more help.
The jpeg you posted is just a raster image its not a template. You would need to upload a PSD to a file sharing service like dropbox and post a link to it.
