Working with Smart objects

Hello forum.

I have noticed when working with smart objects and placing multiple instances of them are slowing down my PCs performance. I do have a standard beefy machine with 32GB of ram intel i7 CPU and Nvidia 8GB. But no matter my PC specs, these smart objects still make PS lag. Is there a way to enhance performance when working with smart objects? For example I might place 100 smart object on my canvas because if I need to make one modification, they'll all change at once which is super convenient.

Thank you.

I frequently use Smart Objects but rarely that many in a single document. There are multiple types of Smart Objects. Perhaps your workflow would be better suited to using one compared with the others…

As far as PS is concerened, they are still just layers that need to be updated every time. The behavior is normal. You would see the same if you were to update 100 different layers. PS simply has no intelligent and memory-efficient instancing.

Its sounds kind off ironic, people gear up their PC RAM, adding as much possible and fast RAM too. And PS behaves so sluggish. Is this all about due to the fact that adobes software optimisation is not up to par with todays PC hardware? is there any information if adobe will have better performance with their software in near future?
