Would this PC be fast performance in photoshop?

I open hundreds of RAW files in ACR (45mp) at a time and edit full time. I need something super fast but dont really want to waste money on something that is overkill. Would osmething like this from Best Buy be great for photoshop or should I spent the extra 1K and get something like the Amazon link?

I think the Best Buy machine looks fine, except I would increase RAM to 32GB or more.

 

The real show-stopper, though, is the LED fans 😉 That would never cross my doorstep... 😄

I have a M1 Max, 64gb, Macbook Pro right now. I really want to move to a desktop and larger screen to edit but not sure I want to sink so much money into a Mac Mini or Mac Studio. I dont really notice a difference between the 64gb I have now and the 32gb I had before though!

Personally I think 32 is enough. Most of the heavy lifting is in the scratch disk anyway, and with a 1TB NVMe as system drive you should be fine if you put the scratch disk there. RAM is more like a cache to the scratch disk's main memory.

 

You'll need more disks for your photos and files, but that's easy to add later.

 

Yeah, the LEDs can probably be turned off in BIOS. Just hit Delete when booting up, and you get into the BIOS settings.

 

I always build my own machines, not to save money, but to customize components to exactly what I need. I don't know how confident you are, but it's surprisingly easy if you just set aside a couple of hours and concentrate a little. And RTFM just to not make any glaring mistakes 🙂

 

But if you want to talk cost, I got a high-powered and rock solid desktop machine that runs Photoshop and Lightroom like it was nothing - at less than what you pay for an entry level MBP.
