Y2K edit?

New Here ,
Mar 09, 2025 Mar 09, 2025

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie on Photoshop and I need some help on how to achieve this early 2000s edit, reminiscent of 'fruitger aero'. I'm assuming the background is done on Illustrator? But I truly don't know where to start TT

Hello!

Thanks for reaching out to the Photoshop community! I've been using Adobe programs for about 11 years. In my experience, these designs look like they were done in Photoshop, including the backgrounds. Here's why. These effects can be acheived using layering, playing with blend filters, and also with grain effects. The grain effect is really the master of it all, though, as it can add that unique vintage feel to almost any project. I would recommend finding a background you like, making a new fill layer as black and then going to filter > noise > add noise *(make sure monochromatic is selected).. Then click ok. After this, I would change the blending mode to screen and apply a very light gaussian blur ontop of this layer. There are many tutorials on YouTube on how to do this. Here also, is a YouTube video on a similar process if your more of a visual learning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBdBscg0Emo&ab_channel=MariaTokar.  Remember, blending is key when trying to acheive Y2K effectively!
