Clone Stamp Tool - Selected layers mode

It would be beneficial to incorporate an additional functionality within the clone stamp tool, allowing it to sample across all currently selected layers.

An instance where this feature would be particularly useful is during the application of the frequency separation technique. In this scenario, one may create a new empty layer positioned atop the "high" layer, utilizing a clipping mask to confine its effect to the "high" layer. Subsequently, one would aim to select both the "high" layer and the newly created empty layer, enabling the clone stamp tool to exclusively sample from these two layers while maintaining visibility of underlying layers.

@Jumpenjax You are right. I would be able to turn off the layers and sample only the visible layers. The point with this idea is the exact opposite. I want to be able to see the other layers to get an impression of the actual image and not only see the gray of the "high" layer.

@Ivan Zajats that is a step towards working more non-destructively. We have already implemented it in our workflow. To be able to work more precisely and better understand layers created by team members, multiple empty layers would be beneficial.

@Moritz26702779ec3v, in this case just duplicate the high layer, add a clipping mask and turn the Blend mode to Normal.

You can't use an empty layer for that, but it's not a big deal. 🙂

Can you temporarily turn off the layers you did not want to sample?

Hey,

thank you for your answer. This would lead to the clone stamp tool sampling all visible layers, which would not work with the frequency separation. For the technique to work, only the selected layers need to be sampled. I would like to see the layers below while sampling from only the "high" layer.

On the clone tool, along top screen there is a sample current layer, current and below, also all layers.
