How can I stop the quick selection tool from adding pixels to removing pixels automatically.

I just love the quick selection tool in Photoshop. Since I started using it I have gone over my entire collection of images going back to the 1960's. The one frustrating feature of this tool is that it automatically switches from adding pixels to my selection to removing pixels. This feature of this marvelous tool breaks my rhythm.

I WANT TO BE IN COMPLETE CONTROL. Is there a way to stop this automatic switching?

I am using Photoshop 2023 with OS Monteray12.6.3
