Make layer GUIDE similar to AE

With 6 votes in more than a year I am not surprised this has received a low priority.

You're correct, when you said "guide layer", thought you meant layer for guides, as I don't use AE. No worries, though, as I am a volunteer and the staff who looks at Ideas will know exactly what you mean.

I don't think you understand what I mean... don't want guide lines, want the make a reference layer as a GUIDE just like in AE where the layer will not render.

It's not but those were the only choices - which make no sense.

Guide layers are also available in InDesign and Illustrator. I've just upvoted your Feature Request — for the time being you can toggle the guides with shortcut Cmd+; (macOS) or Ctrl+; (Win). (The ; is semi-colon.)

How is the ability to put guides on a layer related to Actions, Scripting, Cross-App Workflows, and SDK?
