New gradient tool

Community Beginner ,

Please add back the gradient tool as it was. This new version is neither helpful, and upgrade, or time effecient

it doesn't seem to work on layer masks, why would you take such a flexible option away ?

it doesn't seem to make multiple gradients on a single layer, in fact, it doesn't work on the layer system at all . Again, why make something harder?

upgrades are supposed to help work flow, not hinder it.

Why on earth did you not just create a different "smart gradient" tool, because you really have created something entirly different and not an upgrade to an existing tool

today i rolled back my upgrade because i actually couldn't get my work done with this new tool.

please take that to heart - a 20+ in the field photoshopper couldn't get her work done efficiently with this "upgrade"

i would very much appreciate it if the next "upgrade" included a legacy gradient tool so that i may have the function back without having to live without any upgrades to the program. Because that's not fair either.

thank you

@ebhsestdesign  As I've mentioned earlier, the original gradient tool is there exactly as it was.

Can you share your scenario where gradient doesn't work on layer masks?

The Gradient Tool still has some bugs even when in Classic mode. 1) If you make a gradient on top of another gradient, you get a ring around it even when it's set to fade to transparent. 2) When you choose your foreground color it no longer changes the color of the gradient. You have to choose that seperately now. Here's a link to a video I made showing both of these problems.

Thanks, but it sadly still doesn't seem to work on layer masks, and as DashMartin said, super buggy and not nearly as fast as the original

i feel like this is enough of a change that they should have just created a new tool - left the original gradient tool as it was. Add to the program, not subtract

This has taken away too much function and added too many steps. Upgrades should be as much about new tricks and techniques as they are about having a positive effect on workflow.

It is not 'exactly' as it was. I'm having the same/similar problem and the only fix is to reset the tool. Not 'exactly' the same.
