I get around this with 2 layers in a group 1) Base image 2)(above) Gaussian blur, invert, and change blend to vivid light. Change blend mode of group (with 1&2) to overlay. Acts like high pass filter ~
. Looks great, but I can't quite figure out how you did it. You say there are two layers in the group, but I see three, and I don't know how you made invert into an adjustment layer. I'm so confused! Can you please clarify the steps for us iPad total beginners? Thank you so mucn!

There is a sharpen filter. Go to Filters and Adjustments where you would find adjustments like Gaussian blur and invert then click on Camera Raw Filter. From there go to details and you'll find the option to sharpen! Hope this helps!
