Unwanted default color settings

Every now and then, after some updates, all application (PS, AI, ID etc) color settings switch back to default to North America General Purpose 2.
When I notice it I switch back to Europe General Purpose 3 (Fogra 39 and sRGB).

This is extremely annoying and caused few times to end up with files with wrong color profiles. Moreover there is not any notification (unless you open an older file with different color profile).

It's been years, years and years and I keep telling it. It's unprofessional. End it, please.
