Copying and pasting within Artboards / CC2019

If I have multiple artboards in a file - copying and pasting is always sending the pastes to the first artboard, leading to confusion where you don't know where your files are, even when you explicitly select which artboard to send to, it will send pastes to the wrong artboard.

It's extremely frustrating and this behavior seems to be only exhibiting in CC 2019.

Has anyone seen this on their side and/or have a fix?

@Adobe - this has been one of the most frustrating updates in recent memory - enough to start pushing me into starting larger projects into Sketch and Figma, after more than a decade of being a dedicated Photoshop user.

This is a bug in 20.0.0 which has been fixed in development builds. A fix is in the pipeline for these specific bugs:

    • Layer Panel: Dragging a layer cell to the new layer icon at the bottom of the Layer Panel.
    • Duplicate Layers Dialog: selecting a layer and then using the main menu or context menu. If you duplicate to the same artboard (e.g. Artboard 1 to Artboard 1), the layer may duplicate to (hidden) canvas coordinates instead. Auto-nesting into another artboard may follow.
    • ctrl-J/cmd-J when more than one layer is selected (e.g. a group)

In the meantime, try Option-Drag to duplicate the layer, either on-canvas or in the Layer Panel.

    Thanks, CJ.

Good to know this is a known issue and hopefully will be fixed soon.   Hoping for a patch soon.

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear that, could you please try enabling "Legacy compositing" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

    Regards,

Sadly, this does not change the bug.   Have seen this on multiple systems and files.
